The trial of two Michigan residents accused of causing the death of a KMart security guard during a failed heist is underway. During their getaway attempt, former parole officer Greg Wainio was crushed between the car and a pillar, and dragged 200 feet before falling off the car.

After a lengthy high-speed chase, police arrested a couple suspected of committing dozens of home burglaries throughout West Michigan.

Ten young men from the Metro Detroit area have been named as prime suspects in a theft ring targeting Detroit Public Schools. Among the accused is Dion Sims, a sophomore football player for Michigan State University.

Although Michigan was the first to outlaw the death penalty, suspects convicted of federal crimes in the state could still face capital punishment. Such an example is seen in the case of a Detroit man, who could face the ultimate sentence for murdering an armored truck driver during a 2001 bank robbery.
