After noticing a man having some car trouble, Van Buren County police stopped to help. However, they eventually arrested the motorist after discovering illegal drugs in his vehicle.

After immense political pressure from 17 Attorney Generals nationwide, the popular online forum, Craigslist, has censored its adult services section to curb illegal activity on the website.

Following a two month investigation, police arrested 15 employees of various medical marijuana dispensaries throughout Oakland County. They are accused of over-distributing the drug, as well as selling to undocumented people.

A 54 year-old Michigan woman will serve 11 months behind bars after pleading no contest to failure to disclose charges. According to 1998’s Michigan Disclosure Law, those infected with HIV/AIDS are required to tell their partner of their medical condition before engaging in sexual contact.

The U.S. Court of Appeals overturned the sentence of a Michigan dermatologist convicted of 31 counts of health-care fraud. The three-judge panel affirmed the conviction, but found that the lower court misapplied the “vulnerable-victim” statute, ultimately giving the defendant a longer jail sentence then appropriate.

Although Michigan was the first to outlaw the death penalty, suspects convicted of federal crimes in the state could still face capital punishment. Such an example is seen in the case of a Detroit man, who could face the ultimate sentence for murdering an armored truck driver during a 2001 bank robbery.

Although the Second Amendment allows Americans to keep and bear arms, the issue is still a topic of heated debate in Michigan. The most recent focus is the Arts, Beats, and Eats festival, as gun advocates say they have the right to carry guns openly at the event–even though the city and vendors agreed to ban them.
