The U.S. Court of Appeals overturned the sentence of a Michigan dermatologist convicted of 31 counts of health-care fraud. The three-judge panel affirmed the conviction, but found that the lower court misapplied the “vulnerable-victim” statute, ultimately giving the defendant a longer jail sentence then appropriate.

Police recently arrested a former General Motors engineer and her husband for attempting to sell intellectual property secrets to Chinese auto makers regarding the design of hybrid cars.

In July 2010, a Hartford woman was arrested for identity and property theft after using a stolen credit card at a local restaurant. During that time, she was also carrying with her three duffel bags containing stolen property from Hartford homes.

Law enforcement officials recently arrested a former Bayside Beverage Corporation employee for allegedly taking over $69,000 from the business. If convicted of the charges against him, the Boyne City man will likely be expected to repay all of the money, and could face jail time as well.
